Power over Ethernet IEEE® 802.3bt Solutions

Today, there is unprecedented demand for more power to support additional devices connected to the Ethernet network such as Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) security cameras, 802.11ac and 802.11ax access points, LED luminaires and Internet of Things (IoT) appliances, all of which can benefit from Power over Ethernet (PoE). The IEEE 802.3bt standard increases the power specification, enabling more applications to be powered by PoE.

Our IEEE 802.3bt-compliant PoE solutions deliver power of up to 90W while enabling seamless integration with any pre-IEEE 802.3bt devices and are fully backward compatible with the IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standards. We offer end-to-end, in-house capabilities in providing Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) ICs, software and hardware for PoE systems.


Unique to Microchip, our Gen 6 PSE chipset offers a migration path to the IEEE 802.3bt standard via software without requiring any hardware changes. Our IEEE 802.3bt-compliant IdealBridge™ single-package dual MOSFET-bridge rectifier protects against reverse polarity connection of Powered Devices (PDs) offering minimal PCB space, higher output power and improved thermal and power efficiency.




PoE Systems

We offer IEEE 802.3bt-compliant PoE midspans and switches in multiple power ranges from 60W to 90W and in different port counts of 1/6/12/24 for indoor, outdoor and industrial environments. You can cost effectively upgrade to the IEEE 802.3bt standard by retaining your existing switching infrastructure.
